Service Bridges is Hiring a Staff Interpreter in greater Buffalo area and Western New York! 

Join our stellar team serving the Deaf community throughout the 8 Western New York counties as an American Sign Language-English (ASL/E) Staff Interpreter.

Service Bridges currently has an opening for an ASL/E Staff Interpreter.  Are you the perfect candidate? We are searching for someone to join our team who shares our mission and vision of service to the Deaf community, led by a Deaf CEO, who will uphold a commitment to the clients and customers utilizing our services.

Reports to
ASL/E Staff Interpreter will report to Interpreter Services. 

Responsibilities and Duties

• Strong work ethic and prompt communications in support of scheduling team.
• Facilitate full communication access to Deaf, HoH and hearing service users of Service Bridges.  
• Strong expressive and receptive skills in ASL and English communication; flexible with various communication preferences.
• Prompt ethical decision-making skills and committed to interpreting techniques to match the nature of interpreting service
• Always arrive on time, properly attired for the request.
• Strong work ethic and prompt communications in support of scheduling team and office staff for support.
• Complete any necessary documentation efficiently and on time.
• Report time within 24 hours of assignment completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in ASL-English Interpretating is preferred, not required.
• Comfortable being flexible in a variety of situations and stay engaged with our team members.
• Strong expressive and receptive skills in both languages. 
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of the sociolinguistic dynamics of the Deaf community.
• Willingness to exceed the expectations of the R.I.D. Code of Professional Conduct. 
• R.I.D. Certified preferred, but not required.
